{"id":39,"date":"2004-07-06T00:03:56","date_gmt":"2004-07-06T04:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xanga.nertzy.com\/index.php\/2004\/07\/06\/"},"modified":"2020-08-08T23:28:38","modified_gmt":"2020-08-08T23:28:38","slug":"39","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/xanga.nertzy.com\/index.php\/2004\/07\/06\/39\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone and welcome to New York City.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;re on 123rd Street between Amsterdam and Broadway:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/students.olin.edu\/ghutchins\/xanga\/my_building.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>You approach 522 W 123rd St., affectionately known as &#8220;The Lorraine&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/students.olin.edu\/ghutchins\/xanga\/the_lorraine.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Why it&#8217;s named The Lorraine I will never know.&nbsp; No other building<br \/>\nanywhere near has a name.&nbsp; After going up a couple flights of<br \/>\nstairs you find yourself in Apt. 3W and enter.<\/p>\n<p>You stop by the kitchen:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/students.olin.edu\/ghutchins\/xanga\/sky_is_falling.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>You look up at the ceiling:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/students.olin.edu\/ghutchins\/xanga\/ceiling_collapse.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>You notice that something doesn&#8217;t look right, and it&#8217;s not just that<br \/>\nthe light fixture is an uncovered power-saving fluorescent bulb that is<br \/>\nconnected by thinly insulated wires which go right behind the<br \/>\nelectrical sockets and are held to the side of the wall by metal screws<br \/>\nthrough the insulation which are painted white.&nbsp; Those bulbs are<br \/>\nin the other rooms.&nbsp; The kitchen has a problem all its own.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone and welcome to New York City.
