Movies:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nIn a time when losers decide to profit off dead Americans and reek<br \/>\npropaganda unseen since the fall of the Soviets, comes a movie worth<br \/>\nevery penny! A movie that assumes that we&#8217;re not all brainless idiots!<br \/>\nHowever, just people looking for a solid sense of entertainment in<br \/>\ncontrary to hidden issues masking political bloopers, infamous<br \/>\nouttakes, and puppetry of audience perception.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So<br \/>\nas all of my more liberal friends groan, I want to touch on why I love<br \/>\nthe concept of comic books and superheroes.&nbsp; I feel that the<br \/>\nclassic characters, from Spiderman to Batman and everywhere in between,<br \/>\nrepresent a lot of what goes on in American life.&nbsp; Watching Peter<br \/>\nParker not meet rent while I&#8217;m paying rent for the first time, and<br \/>\nseeing him go around New York, my current home, and Columbia<br \/>\nUniversity, my current employer, bring reality into such a fake movie.<\/p>\n<p>And one of the classic Spiderman messages is so uplifting in my<br \/>\nopinion.&nbsp; It&#8217;s not that doing the right thing will get you<br \/>\nahead.&nbsp; It&#8217;s not that being a superhero will make everyone love<br \/>\nyou, or even give you self-confidence.&nbsp; The main message I heard<br \/>\nfrom the movie is to work, work, work.&nbsp; When you know what you&#8217;re<br \/>\ndoing is the right thing, work at it.&nbsp; When you&#8217;re not sure, keep<br \/>\non working.&nbsp; Just get through it all and leave it better than you<br \/>\nfound it.<\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite songs is The Noise of Carpet by Stereolab.&nbsp;<br \/>\nThis song rocks way more than the remainder of their often-mellow,<br \/>\nalways obscure fare.&nbsp; Somehow I love the mix of the unabashed guitar-driven music and the deadpanned yet quite firm lyrics:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\ti hate to see your broken face<br \/>\nthis world would give you anything<br \/>\nas long as you will want to<br \/>\nas long as you will want to<br \/>\ni hate your state of hopelessness<br \/>\nand that vain articulateness<br \/>\nyour loser type wreck wanna be<br \/>\nnot a pretty sight really<br \/>\nin another world it&#8217;d be funny<\/p>\n<p>i hate to see your broken face<br \/>\na lazy life of fatal waste<br \/>\nof fashionable cynicism<br \/>\nthe poison they want you to drink<br \/>\noh no man that&#8217;s too easy<br \/>\noh no man that&#8217;s too easy<br \/>\nwe weren&#8217;t talking bout happiness<br \/>\napply your leading potential<br \/>\nto be useful to this planet<br \/>\nthe world would give you anything<br \/>\nas long as you will want to<br \/>\nas long as you will want to<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some might see a few of those lines as being bitter.&nbsp;<br \/>\nSure, they are, but what better thing to be bitter about than the<br \/>\ncynics who are not willing to work to improve their situation?&nbsp;<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t get me wrong, I think cynicism is incredibly important in life,<br \/>\nbut the next time you&#8217;re down, just do something to make things better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello again everyone.&nbsp; I have just returned from Spiderman 2, and I loved it.&nbsp; I am a big sucker for comic book movies.&nbsp; I read a review today on Yahoo!
